Working Group Cosmetics

The cosmetics working group was founded in 1987 and currently has 12 ordinary and 11 corresponding members. They come from the following areas:

  • Consultancy
  • Legislation
  • Industry
  • Monitoring/analysis
  • University

The working group sees itself as a discussion forum for relevant issues concerning the development, manufacture and monitoring of cosmetic products. It aims to promote scientific exchange between the various disciplines interested in cosmetics.

  • Documentation of the state of scientific knowledge on selected ingredients
  • Development of analytical methods and assessment of their suitability in interlaboratory comparison studies or collaborative trials
  • Commentary on legislative procedures and highlighting the consequences for the development, manufacture and monitoring of cosmetic products
  • Questions concerning the composition and assessment of cosmetics
  • Exchange of views on requirements for cosmetics
