Young Chemistry Forum

The Young Chemists’ Forum (JCF) is the organisation for the young, predominantly student members of the German Chemical Society (GDCh). It comprises all student members and members undergoing training, as well as ordinary GDCh members registered as young members. The JCF serves to coordinate and organise the interests and activities of young chemists.

JCF — Science. Communication. Network

The JCF is represented at 54 of the 60 GDCh local sections by regional forums. These organise numerous events such as lectures, seminars, introductory sessions for students, careers fairs, experiments for different age groups and multi-day conferences. The largest event is the annual Spring Symposium, which regularly attracts more than 300 participants and has established itself internationally as a platform for young talent.

In the regional forums, spokespersons and their Deputies are elected by the young members. The JCF Federal Board is elected annually from among them. This body coordinates the JCF's activities and represents the organisation both internally and externally.

The JCF is not legally independent, but is a structure of the GDCh and is subject to its statutes.

European Young Chemists’ Network (EYCN) and International Younger Chemists Network (IYCN)

The JCF also has strong international links at European and global level! Through the European Chemical Society (EuChemS), the JCF is a member of the European Young Chemists‘ Network (EYCN), where the JCF’s four delegates engage internationally, strengthen chemistry at European level and represent the JCF externally.

In addition to the IYCN, various JCF members are also involved in the International Younger Chemists Network (IYCN), the youth organisation of IUPAC, and work to connect young chemists worldwide.
