AG Member Recruitment

AG Member Recruitment

working group 10 - Mitgliederwerbung und -service

Current status

Birthday letter to all GDCh members turning 60, 65 or 70 (approx. 3,000 letters per year). The letter also provides information about the SEC’s activities and invites recipients to join the SEC.

Member management: Current membership lists and welcoming new SEC members (5–10 per month).

Member recruitment: Active participation in meetings of Division chairs and Division conferences, regular contact with JCF. Member marketing: flyer. Member-recruits-member campaign (since 2023). Member recruitment in combination with participation in the annual conference, appointment as a Gold Member (letter from the GDCh), announcement of SEC Online lectures, etc.

Pilot poster for recruiting members from other Divisions when they retire (e.g. retired teachers).

Opening SEC member recruitment to the active recruitment of associate members

Objectives

  • 20% of GDCh members in retirement are SEC members (approx. 600–700).
  • Every GDCh member receives a birthday letter on their 60th, 65th and 70th birthdays (target: see above). GDCh members who are already SEC members receive a different text.
  • Download the current SEC membership table on the first day of each month. Identify members added in the previous month. Welcome new SEC members with information about the SEC’s activities. A table of SEC members is available to all SEC Board members in the Workspace.
  • Increase the proportion of women, teachers, associate members and members from certain Divisions
  • Ensure a continuous supply of younger members; to this end, hold meetings with the GDCh Executive Director and exchange information with the GDCh Board

Planned projects

  • Extensive automation of SEC member management in close cooperation with the GDCh digitalisation team (Maximilian Bräutigam, Alexander Lorey) and Jasmin Herr, who is responsible for member marketing
  • Every member who applies for the retirement rate is informed about SEC membership.
  • Cooperation with Analytical Chemistry (including process analytics) and other Divisions such as chemical education, also to raise awareness of the “Associate Membership” option
  • Use of the SEC newsletter, published every two months, as an introduction
