Senior Expert Chemists

OUR MISSION:
We give knowledge and experience back to society.
OUR VISION:
We strengthen understanding of chemistry across generations.
The over 450 SEC members have, for the most part, retired from active professional life and come from industry, higher education, research institutes, schools, politics, consultancy, associations, analytical services and the media. SEC is open to everyone! Age is irrelevant.
We, the Senior Expert Chemists (Senior Expert Chemists, SEC), are, for the most part, chemists who have retired from active professional life. We are a Division of the GDCh. Most of us have a higher education background. We have gained our usually more than 30 years of professional experience in positions of responsibility in industrial companies, educational institutions, research institutes or public authorities. We make this knowledge and experience available to society. The main areas of our interest are:
- strengthening the standing of chemistry among the general public
- deepening the public’s understanding of chemistry
- learning and passing on knowledge of chemistry throughout life
- building networks of chemists in Germany and abroad
- maintaining international contacts
Women and men (or others) are, of course, treated equally by us. However, for ease of reading, we use the generic masculine when referring to people.
