German Working Group for Analytical Spectroscopy

The German Working Group for Analytical Spectroscopy of the GDCh Division of Analytical Chemistry connects experts and users in the field of analytical spectroscopy. With more than 500 members, DAAS is at the forefront of research, teaching and industry. DAAS was established in April 2014 through the merger of the A.M.S.El. (Working Group for Micro- and Trace Analysis of elements and element species) and DASp (German Working Group for Applied Spectroscopy) working groups. DAAS

  • promotes interdisciplinary collaboration among spectroscopists in all scientific disciplines
  • provides advice on analytical issues
  • provides support with method development and application, as well as troubleshooting
  • monitors and promotes trends and techniques
  • acts as a contact for international organisations
  • is involved in and supports international conferences and meetings
  • provides advice and support in the areas of quality assurance, standards and formulations
  • organises sessions as part of the analytica conference and ANAKON
  • organises doctoral seminars
  • awards the Bunsen-Kirchhoff Award (target group: Young Professionals) and the DAAS Award (PhD students, postdocs, Young Professionals)
  • offers students insights into the daily work of analytical chemists through its mentoring programme

Board election for the 2027–2030 term of office

On 31 December 2026, the term of office of the Board of the German Working Group for Analytical Spectroscopy (DAAS) will end, and you, esteemed members of the working group, are cordially invited to nominate additional candidates for the Board election who

  • have declared their willingness to stand for election,
  • are members of the working group and
  • have the support of five members of the working group.

According to the Working Guidelines of the working group, the Board consists of a maximum of six members (1x Chair, 1x Deputy Chair, max. 4x assessors), each elected for a term of four years. Universities and industry should be represented in equal proportions in the composition of the Board. Direct re-election is possible once.

For the maximum of six Board positions available for election, the incumbent Board is putting forward the following nine proposals in addition to your nominations:
