The four major scientific societies
are deeply shocked by the armed violence in Ukraine. Our concern and our solidarity are with the Ukrainian people and all other victims of this war, whose immediate end we demand.

A year ago in spring, chemistry students from Kyiv were among the refugees from Ukraine. The University of Giessen accepted around 20 of them. Since then, they have started research projects, completed their studies, started a doctorate, learnt German or left Germany.

In the course of the war of aggression against Ukraine, Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of using chemical weapons under false flags or planning to use them. Evidence for the respective accusations is still lacking. International mechanisms exist to have the accusations independently investigated.
