The main focus of the work of the teacher training centres is the development and delivery of an attractive range of internal and external courses covering all areas of chemistry, aligned with the curricula of the federal states.

The training programme comprises courses for all school levels and types in the subject of chemistry, as well as general science education at primary level.

The GDCh Commission for Teacher Training regularly evaluates the work of the centres and develops thematic priorities in line with current requirements.

The thematic priorities considered important by the Commission are:

  • Sustainability in chemical education
  • Chemistry and life sciences
  • Modern materials and substances
  • Teaching and learning concepts in chemical education
  • Educational standards/curricula
  • Chemical concepts – yesterday, today and tomorrow
  • Early science education
  • Safety in chemical education
  • Digitalisation in chemistry – industry and education

The training centres’ programme is expanded by so-called tandem events, in which, in cooperation with companies, speakers from industry, for example from research or production, report on current developments. At the same time, the content is didactically adapted for everyday use in schools. This makes it possible to offer events with particularly up-to-date and practical content.

For detailed questions and current information about the teacher training programme, please contact the relevant centre.
