JCF (Young Chemists’ Forum)

Teilnehmende des JCF-Frühjahrssymposiums 2017 in Mainz

The JCF (JungesChemieForum) brings together the young, mostly student, members of the GDCh. Here, young chemists coordinate and organise their interests and activities. All students and other members currently in training, as well as those full GDCh members who are classified as young members in accordance with the membership fee regulations, make up the JCF (JungesChemieForum).

Young chemists are represented at 54 locations

The regional forums of the JCF (JungesChemieForum) should be understood as groups within the GDCh local sections; they exist in 54 of the 60 GDCh local sections. The regional forums organise a wide variety of events, ranging from high-profile public lectures to seminars, introductory sessions for students, job fairs, experiments for young and old, and conferences lasting several days. The largest multi-day event organised by the JCF (JungesChemieForum) is the Spring Symposium, which, with consistently more than 300 participants, has gained an international reputation as a platform for young talent.

In the regional forums, spokespersons and their deputies are elected by young members registered with the respective regional forums. From this group of spokespersons, the JCF Federal Executive Committee, consisting of a federal spokesperson and four deputies, is elected for a term of one year. The Federal Executive Committee coordinates the activities of the JCF (JungesChemieForum) and represents it both internally and externally.

The JCF is a structure of the GDCh that is not legally independent. The Society’s statutes are binding on the JCF and its members.
