Scholarship programme of the GDCh Division of Paints and Coating Chemistry

The GDCh Division of Colours and Coating Chemistry promotes the participation of early-career scientists in selected conferences, seminars or workshops by awarding travel grants (e.g. the Division’s Coatings Conference and Summer School).

Summer School (14–16 September 2026) & Conference Colours and Coatings (16–18 September 2026)

To enable students and doctoral researchers to attend the Summer School and the Conference on Colours and Coatings the GDCh Division of Colour and Coating Chemistry is providing financial support to a limited number of people:

  • Bachelor’s students (from their 4th semester onwards), master’s students and doctoral researchers enrolled in chemistry, chemical engineering, applied chemistry or similar degree programmes at universities and universities of applied sciences may apply.
  • Students should send a letter of recommendation from their academic supervisor (a collective letter is also possible), including the names, university addresses and email addresses of the respective students, by 25 August 2026 with the subject line "Coatings Conference 2026" by email to Maike Fries (GDCh Office).
  • The Division will support up to 20 students with a maximum of €250 each. Funding will be allocated in the order in which the documents are received (see above).
  • After the conference, students should send the completed and signed GDCh travel expenses form and the original receipts to Maike Fries.
  • Travel expenses (DB 2nd class, but also mileage allowance if, for example, groups of four arrange to travel by car; individual journeys by car cannot be reimbursed) and accommodation costs may be reimbursed. Reimbursement will be made by bank transfer.
