Contact: Dr. Karsten Schürrle, DECHEMA

Synthetic biology encompasses various disciplines of the natural and life sciences and includes the design of biological networks, systems or even entire cells that do not occur in nature in this form. The corresponding scientific activities of the four supporting societies have been brought together under the umbrella of the Joint Working Group since 2020:

  • German Botanical Society (DBG),
  • German Chemical Society (GDCh),
  • Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM) and
  • Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (DECHEMA).

The Joint Working Group is open to all members of the supporting societies without any additional membership fee. It is not a Division within the meaning of the GDCh statutes.
