Information for local branch chairpersons
Food and drink provided free of charge on the occasion of and during a scientific lecture
or a post-lecture reception are permitted, subject to the principles of
reasonableness and the budget of the respective local branch.
(Recommended: €50 per person per day)
At after-events, invited speakers and local branch chairpersons are the
primary beneficiaries. A maximum of two further people may be invited,
provided they have made an exceptional contribution to the work.
Please note that the budget for a talk is approximately 300 €. This
amount is intended to cover expenses such as hospitality, travel and other costs incurred by the speakers
. In the case of speakers from abroad, the budget may be exceeded
, but this must be offset in other expenditure areas to ensure
that the overall budget is not exceeded.
The names of all persons for whom hospitality was provided must be recorded on the hospitality receipt or
on the reimbursement claim. As with all invoices,
hospitality receipts (over €250) in particular must be made out to the GDCh
e.V., Varrentrappstraße 40–42, 60486 Frankfurt.
As chair of a local branch, you have extensive powers to contact your local members and manage your branch’s organisation.
In the GDCh.app, you can manage your events and add new ones – from there, the information is sent directly by email to your local members, to the websites at gdch.de and jcf.io, to the app and to our members’ magazine Nachrichten aus der Chemie.
With the app, you can contact your local members directly by email, using your own subject line, text and attachments, to keep them informed of important news.
You can also view your local branch’s finances. There you will find the latest bank statement showing all transactions and, of course, the account balance, which is updated at regular intervals (usually monthly).
As chair of a local branch, you can apply at any time for your own email account and services within Google Workspace on the go.gdch.de or jcf.io domains, so that you can communicate with colleagues and share documents.
Please make a point of highlighting the benefits of GDCh membership time and again during your public appearances on behalf of the GDCh, for example at your own events. After all, who better to showcase the advantages of GDCh membership than you, as you are already a GDCh member?
Over the next few days, you will receive a parcel containing some information materials which you can use to recruit new GDCh members. You are free to display the leaflets included in the parcel as much as you like; we will provide you with a replenishment at any time.
To introduce you to the chemical community in your new role as local branch chair, we’re offering you the chance to introduce yourself Online at gdch.de, gdch.app and jcf.io. Please take a few minutes to complete your app profile:
Please let me know briefly by email afterwards so that I can use your details to write an article for our members’ magazine Nachrichten aus der Chemie.
You are welcome to appoint someone you trust as your deputy to assist you with organising and running events and communicating with members.
To help you settle into your new role quickly, please read through the local branch information for local branch chairpersons. You can also find this and further information at Download section on the GDCh website.
