Job advertisements and information from scientific organisations

Association Bernard Gregory

The Association Bernard Gregory (AGB) is a French non-profit organisation that supports doctoral students and graduates of all disciplines in their professional goals. This includes workshops and courses, job offers from industry and academia and a wide range of information on all aspects of doctoral work and starting a career.

German-French Service Centre ABG-DFH

The Franco-German Service Centre ABG-DFH, a joint project of the Franco-German University (DFH) and the Association Bernard Gregory, which was founded to accompany and support the professional integration of doctoral candidates in Germany and France,

is also helpful for Francophile chemists.

Royal Society of Chemistry

The British Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) actually only makes its extensive careers service available to members. However, as the GDCh and the RSC have concluded an agreement on co-operation in various fields, GDCh members looking for a position in the UK can also benefit from this. Please contact the RSC with reference to the Bilateral Cooperation Agreement!

Koninklijke Nederlandse Chemische Vereniging (KNCV)

There is also a corresponding agreement (International Associate Membership) with the Koninklijke Nederlandse Chemische Vereniging (KNCV), the Dutch sister organisation, which enables GDCh members to use the KNCV's mediation service.

Société Française de Chimie (SFC)

The Société Française de Chimie (SFC) also supports its job-seeking members with a "Bourse de l'emploi" and the GDCh has also concluded an agreement with the SFC (International Associate Membership). GDCh members can have themselves included in an applicant database published on the Internet. The job vacancies ("offres d'emploi") for doctoral students, postdocs and from the chemical industry are accessible to all.

American Chemical Society (ACS)

Unfortunately, the American Chemical Society only makes its extensive help for job seekers available to its members. However, it does operate a job database that is not restricted to members.

Ingenieurkarriere and Ingenieur.de

Ingenieurkarriere is the name of the service provided by the Association of German Engineers (VDI) for career entry and careers. Of course, it is primarily intended for engineers, but chemists will also find a lot of interesting information here.

Why a lot of additional information is outsourced to the Ingenieur.de site is not obvious to the external visitor. But it is still worth clicking there, because hidden under "Work and career" you will find the already legendary career advice from Heiko Mell from the VDI-Nachrichten and this reading is worthwhile for every scientist who is in professional life.

Hermann von Helmholtz Association

16 research centres have joined together to form the Hermann von Helmholtz Association. Most of them advertise their vacant positions in all areas of the natural sciences on the Internet.

Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft operates a total of 47 Fraunhofer Institutes in Germany, which are involved in applied research in all areas of science and technology. Vacancies are advertised centrally.

European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL)

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg with branch offices in Hamburg, Grenoble (France) and Hinxton (UK) also publishes its vacancies on the Internet, mostly for biologists, biochemists, structural chemists and computer scientists.

CERN (Organisation européenne pour la recherche nucléaire)

The vacancies at CERN, European Laboratory for Particle Physics based in Geneva, Switzerland, are also published on the web.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna was founded by the United Nations and works to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy and to prevent the military use of nuclear energy. As the proportion of German employees has fallen in recent years and the IAEA emphasises an international mix, applications from German candidates are welcome. The current vacancies can be found on the pages listed above.

European Chemicals Agency (ECHA)

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), based in Helsinki, manages the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals to ensure a harmonised procedure within the European Union ("Reach"). ECHA has bundled its job vacancies under the heading "Work with us".

European Patent Office

Here are the vacancies of the European Patent Office.
