Spinel MnCo2O4 nanocrystals are synthesized via oil bath co-precipitation and characterized by XRD, FTIR, FESEM, HRTEM, and EDS, revealing high purity, spherical morphology, and good crystallinity. Electrochemical studies show high specific capacitance and wide potential window. VSM confirms ferromagnetism, and antimicrobial tests indicate inhibition zones of 10.73 mm for E. coli and 7.33 mm for P. aeruginosa.

Abstract

The spinel MnCo2O4 nanocrystal was effectively synthesized by oil bath co-precipitation technique. The MnCo2O4 was studied using XRD, FT-IR, FESEM, and HRTEM techniques to determine its physico-chemical and surface properties. The FTIR spectrum confirmed the MnCo2O4 nanocrystals' chemical structure, and FESEM and HRTEM analysis revealed their spherical-like morphologies. The EDS spectrum demonstrated the MnCo2O4’s high purity and good crystallinity nature. CV and EIS investigations were used to measure the electrochemical characters of the MnCo2O4 electrode. Using a 2 M tetrabutylammonium perchlorate (TBA) electrolyte, the improved electrode exhibits an extensive potential window of −1.5 to 1.8 V and it delivers the specific capacitance (Cs) of about 673 F/g at 2 mV/s. The MnCo2O4 electrode exhibits specific capacitance values from GCD exhibits 200.4 Fg−1 at 0.5 Ag−1. The MnCo2O4 electrode achieved capacitive contribution ratios of 72% at s sweep speed of 80 m V s−1. The magnetic properties of nanoparticles were done by VSM instrument at room temperature. According to the data, MnCo2O4 performed ferromagnetically, with a coercivity field of 28 Oe and a saturation magnetization of 17 emu/g. In addition, we have tested the MnCo2O4nanospheres for antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. eruginosa) and the average zone of inhibition are 10.73 ± 1.18 and 7.33 ± 0.55 mm respectively.
